Another Love

While I was on my rooftop,

I saw the girl next door sitting in her balcony for three hours,

Ironically in this world of Instagram, WhatsApp, and Snapchat addicted people,

She didn't touch her phone even once for those three hours,

To elaborate, she did absolutely nothing for those hours,

I looked at her every now and then,

She just kept looking towards the other end of the road,

I actually got worried that her eyes would pop out if she continued blinking at such a slow rate,

His flight was late by three hours because of heavy rainfall,

Oh, did I forget to mention,

It was a gloomy day with dark clouds and thunderous rain,

Just for those who don't know how to find brightness amidst darkness like me,

She kept on waiting, didn't get up from that chair for a minute,

Just changed a few body postures and that's it,

The way I looked at her looking at the road made me feel like she could wait forever,

If I were her, I would get excited everytime a vehicle crossed that road but that wasn't the case here,

It was more like,

She had a connection that'd let her know when it was him,

No doubt she would, he's been arriving and departing that doorstep for years now,

Time is the master of all you know,

I know I've created enough curiosity and it's time for that moment to happen,

As soon as the wheels of that car rolled in the corner of the street, her eyes whispered something they were too afraid to speak out loud,

Her face tinged and seemed as if she wanted to smile but unexpectedly didn't,

I'm still trying to figure out why,

As the car approached her doorstep,

She started to look rather nervous, went near her plants in the balcony and started to water them, trying so hard so that nobody comprehends the fact that she was waiting for him, not even he himself.

Looking at the tiny rose buds, I'm sure she was just listening patiently to the sound of the car stopping, the opening and closing of the door, his first footstep then his second and every next,

He climbed up the stairs with thumping steps that were also similar to her thumping heart,

As I mentioned earlier, it was raining, she kept a towel ready for him on the cloth stand,

The towel was the only thing hanging on that stand which I noticed after he picked it up,

I saw them look at each other for a while,

And I was about to get up and go down because after all they had finally met each other and there was nothing left to watch anymore,

But, something happened that, what should I say, sort of ruined my day,

They didn't exchange a single word, not even a greeting, not even a smile, not a single gesture, he just went downstairs and she went back into her room,

Just when I thought it was over,

I saw him climbing up again,

He came half way, halted for a minute and went back downstairs again.

And that's how it unfortunately ended.

Through this short yet vivid incident I have just tried to explain that people nowadays aren't incapable of the ability to love,

They're just incapable of the ability to express their love.
