Dhoni Finishes Off In Style!

Dear Mahi,

You've broken my heart yet again and I swear it hurts more than anything.

We all knew that this was going to happen, but we didn't expect that it would be this difficult to absorb.

I don't know how it came to me yesterday, when I played "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story" for the Nth time and cried as if it was the last of you in blue I was watching. Maybe, I saw it coming or maybe it was a mere coincidence.

Everyone's talking about your achievements and your legacy but today I would talk about the person you're. The calm and the quirky, the humble and the honest and the brave and the bold Mahi. The Mahi, I love and every other fan does.

I've heard so many anecdotes of your kindness and calmness that I can't narrate it in a few paragraphs. It would take one to write a whole book or a thesis.

I recently finished reading 'The Dhoni Touch' by Bharat Sundrasen. I've read your beautiful journey of 15 years in the Indian cricket team in it, and it has to be my most favorite book. The way you silently posted a heartfull of memories in a video on Instagram with caption 'Thankyou' left us stumped and teary eyed, once again. It somehow gave us a feeling we had when you won us the 2011 World Cup and of last year's semi final as well. It teared our hearts apart but healed them with immeasurable amount of proud too.

I've heard you sing it last year in an event and it gave me chills back then as I imagined your departure from the international cricket and it still does.

This heart Mahi, (and so many other hearts too) will never get enough of you.

You finished it in your style, yet again and we couldn't be more proud and nostalgic. You know the way to our hearts and you never fail to reach the core of them.

It was a pleasure to watch you play silently, hustle and leave, silently.

We can't thank you enough for the memories and everything you gave us.
