Emotions to Emojis!

"Happy B'day Kritika!🥳" And that's how I've been wishing one of my very old friends a very happy birthday, since last so many years. The last time we spoke over the call was almost five years ago, but ever since the emoticons came into existence, we also, like remaining 7.8 Billion people communicated through a pop up keyboard, even though the telecommunication these days is comparatively cheaper. Ever since the technology proved to be an invader into our lives, trying to usurp every little thing that makes us human, our larger than life smiles got shrinked into a 32x32 pixel icon. The reply of Mom's, "Kaise ho Beta? (How're you son?)" is a simple smile emoji, the reply of Bestie's, "Hope you're doing good bro?" is a thumbs up!

The emotional dryness has completely taken over our communication style. We 're expressing grief through emojis, celebrating happiness through emojis, wishing luck through emojis, showing annoyance or disagreement through emojis; and ultimately forgetting when was the last time we laughed or cried our hearts out! People're not sharing their smiles with casual conversations with friends or family, rather are spending bucks on joining laughter therapy groups to just experience how smile feels like. This, of course, raises a question that where're we heading , towards a generation of cold numb individuals who never had an encounter with beautiful human emotions? Towards a society where fulfilled smiles, wet eyes, excited faces, annoying stares will be a virtual phenomenon? I learnt that it takes initiative and effort to build the foundation of everlasting relationship, irrigated with bonafide emotions, but now it seems like just a "smiling face with a closed eyes Emoji" is sufficient to show the other person how caring you are! Isn't it a mockery and degradation of most valuable thing in the universe- a genuine emotion? The purpose of this unstructured and shorter than expected blog is to understand that your emotions are invaluable. Don't degrade them to an emoji! Give it a though!
